Neutral Baby Room

Neutral Baby Room Design - Designed by Crystal Fetsch

Throwback Tuesday

I always thought it was neat when a business would frame its first earned dollar as a business owner. Instead of a dollar, I want to frame my first client's baby room as an interior decorator (picture above). Just like the dollar framed, this picture would remind me how far I have come and motivate me on why I do interior decorating.

I remember I had just started getting into the decorating process eight years ago in our first home and got asked to plan and decorate a couple's baby's room, and as a bonus, they would pay me to do it. I'm not going to lie; I was flattered and a little stressed. Giving design advice on a whim is one thing, but it's completely different when you have to sell someone your design ideas. After the process, I saw I have a knack and love for interior decorating and a passion for making people's homes their own. A place they love and enjoy being in that represents them.

Design Challenges

How cute did this baby room turn out? I had so much fun designing everything from the furniture to the little details to personalized items in the space. The most challenging parts of designing this baby room were:

  1. Not knowing the gender

  2. The room was small, and I needed to optimize the storage space

  3. Designed virtually

The Inspiration

When designing this baby room, I first shopped for inspiration and came across this woodland-themed nursery bedding set. I originally found it at Toys R US eight years ago, but now you can find it here on Amazon or another similar one here on Amazon. I cohesively designed the room by taking this bedding set's colors, texture, and theme. The quilt's high-end embellishments of textured fabrics, faux fur, and embroidery threads create a dynamic focal point. How adorable are these sweet woodland friends? The bedding set comes with five pieces:

  1. On Mural Decal Stickers

  2. One Crib Dust Ruffle

  3. One Diaper Staker

  4. One Crib Quilt

  5. One Crib Fitted Sheet

Design Concept

Even eight years ago, I seemed so professional with my first client. I even put a proposal together with design concepts, tips for decorating, and a shopping list to buy from the design concept they chose. Doing these extra steps seemed to make the design process run smoothly. How nice would it be to have a whole room designed, with design tips and a shopping list? We at Yes Design It, LLC take that extra step for our clients.
